Recognizing the Unseen Through Touch: My Mindful Photography Journey
The exercise of observing my hands unexpectedly took me to a profound realm of self-compassion and emotional connection. I learned that physically touching one's own body brings me closer to my heart and the present moment.
It's incredible how the simple act of touching my hands acted as a bridge to my emotions, allowing me to tap into a deeper, unspoken dimension. As Ruth wisely said, not everything requires understanding. Emotions are meant to be felt, not explained.
This experience left me feeling both perplexed and humbled, grateful for the journey it led me on. It highlights the significance of making space for feelings, emotions, open-ended questions, and the absence of immediate answers or explanations in the present moment. It's an integral part of this program, reminding us to be compassionate toward ourselves.

In Module 3 of our mindful photography journey, we ventured deeper into the intricacies of self-compassion, emotions, and the profound beauty of the unknown. This module has been a powerful reminder of the importance of emotions, presence, and the uncharted territory of the unknown in our lives and practices.
Module 3 in Relation to My Practice:
In my personal practice and work setting, I've observed a strong focus and energy directed toward scheduled and pre-planned tasks. The busyness of everyday life can leave little room for embracing the unknown, for unscripted experiences, and for feeling deeply. This balance, or rather imbalance, can sometimes leave me feeling adrift.
Adapting Module 3 in an Authentic Way:
As I embark on creating my own program and practices, I'm committed to not filling every moment with explanations, words, and thoughts about emotions. Instead, my approach is to create a space for feeling, for open-ended questions, for the absence of immediate answers or explanations in the present, and for simply "being" and experiencing the unknown. This, I've realized, is an essential and integral component for a program of this nature.
The Role of Discernment in Feeling:
I've also come to understand the importance of discernment in the midst of feeling. It's crucial to maintain a certain level of self-awareness and centeredness. From this place of presence, I step into the realm of feeling. This discernment acts as a guide, ensuring that I navigate the emotional landscape with grace and wisdom.
The Power of Non-Judgment and Compassion:
Central to this journey is the practice of non-judgment for what we feel, think, and observe in the present moment. Observing with compassion and curiosity, with open hearts and open minds, allows us to dive into the depths of our emotions and experiences. It's in this space that we uncover the profound beauty of our own existence.
Balancing Speaking and Feeling:
My background in meditation, contemplation, yoga, and other practices has sometimes led me to the temptation of over-analyzing and speaking extensively about mindfulness and emotions. However, my true expertise lies in feeling and experiencing. I've undergone my own transformative processes by embracing the act of feeling, and it's a skill I can impart. It's a profound aspect of what I can offer – the ability to infuse others with the courage to feel deeply, to explore the uncharted territory of their emotions without fear, and to sit with their feelings without the need for immediate explanations or intervention.
Transmitting the Ability to Feel:
One of the most delicate aspects of my work is not to underestimate this ability. It could very well be the key to unlocking a new level of self-compassion and understanding for those I work with. Teaching them to navigate the space of feeling, with the added element of discernment, can be truly transformative.
Conclusion:
As I contemplate the organization of this newfound understanding and experience for my future groups, I am inspired by the potential to guide them towards a space of deep feeling and connection. It's a journey where we can collectively embrace the unknown, free from the confines of explanations, and discover the profound beauty of simply "being" in the present moment, with the added gift of non-judgment and compassionate curiosity, ensuring that our journey through the realm of emotions is both enriching and enlightening.
