In Search of Vital Harmony: A Journey into Mindful Photography
"I feel electricity.” a line from a movie I love - Billy Elliot - I deeply recommend it - captures a sentiment that resonates within me. Sometimes, I feel the electric warmth coursing through my entire being when I create or offer something uniquely my own, something that resonates with the essence of my soul. It's a sensation that makes me truly live life to the fullest, tuning into a vital force that brings a sense of completeness and heightened clarity.
Why do I take pictures? Because I love to. And love heals - another great line, I forgot where from. I love to capture beauty and share it. I'm curious what kind of beauty do you see around you, hear, touch? Tell me about yourself – who you are, what moves you, what makes you feel alive, electric, as if your entire body is inhabited by life and, at the same time, as if you no longer exist, and your body is elevated by life, flowing smoothly and naturally.
Drawing inspiration from the film Billy Elliot, a movie that deeply touched my soul, I seek profound connection and vital harmony through mindful photography.
I don't yet know what my offering in mindful photography will be. I lack clarity, and that's okay. For some time, I got caught up in the agitation and fear, not knowing how to proceed, what to offer, and how, as I don't feel equipped to work with people. I started to rush for results, for a plan. But I noticed all of this, how I feel in my body, how I feel within myself, and I didn't want to continue like that. So, I said stop, not like this. There's no need to rush, no need to do something now. What I need is to connect with the version of myself that knows how to live with confidence. I need to connect with the energy within me that trusts life and believes that something in me and something higher than me is here all the time and guides me, knowing when things need to be done and what needs to be done.
The me that trusts that I will meet the right people with whom to create and collaborate fruitfully, based on harmony, mutual benefit, respect, love, delight, and trust. That's what I need, and meditation, prayer, and opening myself to higher spheres are what help me in such moments. Dedicate my worries and fears, as well as my desires and joys, to these higher spheres, ask for help, commit to connecting with them, and allow myself to be washed by their energy. This creates space within me, self-care, understanding, vitality, creativity, self-love, and trust in myself and life, which I have lacked for so long.
...These may sound like mere words – self-care, understanding, vitality, creativity, self-love, and trust. We hear them uttered by people in various contexts, some making promises about how their services can awaken these aspects within us. Some genuinely understand and deliver on these promises, while others may speak in circles, offering illusions and empty assurances. There are those who navigate life as if they've mastered these concepts, exuding confidence and fulfillment. But coming back to one self, we need to find our own inner way.
This is why I find solace in taking pictures. It's a means of sidestepping the use of grandiose or overused words, conveying a feeling, a message through the visual medium. It allows me to transcend the limitations of language and communicate on a deeper level. In the realm of photography, there's a raw authenticity that captures the essence of self-care – not in the form of a slogan but in the intentional framing of a moment that speaks to the soul.
Understanding unfolds not in verbose explanations but in the silent dialogue between the photographer and the subject, capturing the unspoken stories within each frame. Vitality is not a lofty promise but a pulsating energy radiating from the images, evoking a sense of aliveness that transcends the static pixels.
Creativity manifests not through hollow claims but in the composition of each photograph, a unique expression of the artist's vision and the subject's essence. Self-love is not a self-help mantra but an acknowledgment of the beauty and worth captured in every image, a celebration of the subject's existence.
And trust, it's not merely spoken but implicitly built through the vulnerability shared between the photographer and the one being photographed, a trust that allows the essence of a moment to be frozen in time.
In the world of visual storytelling, actions speak louder than words. So, while others may promise the world with rhetoric, I'll continue to let my photographs speak volumes, capturing the nuanced beauty of the human experience, transcending the need for eloquent affirmations.
After all, a picture is worth a thousand words, and sometimes, those words echo the profound truths that language struggles to convey...
