My Water Story: Capturing the Subtle Beauty and Profound Reflections
This week I felt challenged during a certain practice - how to capture the intangible essence of water within my home. Initially, my mind was blank, and I questioned how to visually express the colorless presence of water. But I decided to look closely at the water around me, moving through my home, looking where water resides (plants, bath, water can, my body) and gradually, I felt the dormant muscle of creativity coming to life.
I realized that inspiration emerges irrespective of time constraints. Sometimes it unfolds gradually, and at other times, it arrives instantly. The key is to remain open and move gently through space, embracing the fluidity of creativity.
This practice serves as a powerful reminder that creativity and solutions are always within reach, waiting to be discovered if one remains patient and receptive.
Reflecting on this water exercise also stirred deeper reflections on my life's journey. It was as if murky waters had cleared away, and I could now see the clear awareness flowing through my life, making sense of the movement of evolution throughout my existence till now. Looking back, I'm astounded by the transformation I've gone through - from a life filled with anxiety, where uncertainty and fear pervaded every aspect of my being, to my current state of calm and self-acceptance. Through my periods of breakdowns and breakthroughs over time, I've learned to let life unfold, accepting what comes and letting things be. I've come to feel and believe that life is on my side, that challenges are not meant to harm me but to aid in my growth and self-discovery. I've also recognized my connection to something greater, to the universe, and I've found a deep sense of belonging within myself.
My journey involved a significant amount of inner exploration, and I was unsure of what lay on the other side of my struggles. It turned out to be this precious life, lived by this being that I am, who is made of these sacred elements - water, earth, fire, air, ether, and spirit. I've discovered that being authentically me is enough and indeed beautiful. This realization emerged after an arduous yet transformative process, allowing me to embrace the present moment with gratitude and joy.
My Water Story stands as a testament to the power of creativity and self-discovery, a reminder that we all have a creative potential - no question about that :) - and we can unlock it when we remain open, patient, and attentive to life's mysteries.
The water exercise had a deeper impact on myself and prompted deeper reflections on my life for several reasons:
Keen Observation: When I attempted to photograph water, I had to pay close attention to subtle details and carefully examine the world around me. This heightened focus on details and seemingly simple aspects can lead to deeper reflections on other facets of ones life.
Simplicity and Depth: Water is a simple element, yet it is simultaneously profound and essential to life. This duality can offer a broader perspective on life and its complexities hidden within apparent simplicity.
Connection with Nature: By practicing water photography, I directly engaged with nature and its elements. This connection can intensify ones relationship with the environment and serves as a reminder of the interconnectedness of all aspects of life.
Creativity and Self-Expression: While attempting to photograph water, I employed my creativity and imagination to capture something abstract and formless. This process of self-expression and creation can trigger deeper thoughts about self-expression in everyday life.
All these aspects have contributed to deeper reflections and realizations during the water exercise, thereby opening the door for a personal sharing. It's a wonderful example of how simple activities can have a significant impact on our reflections and self-discovery.
So, let's not underestimate the impact of seemingly simple exercises, like capturing the essence of water through photography. We never truly know how or why profound revelations might begin to flow from within us, or rise to the surface of our consciousness, much like an underground spring of pure water. Therefore, let's make space within our minds to encourage, nurture, and embrace all that seeks to emerge, to reveal itself, and to adorn our beings.
May we stay open, receptive, and inquisitive, as life's subtle magic unfolds within and around us, offering glimpses of beauty and wisdom we may have never imagined.
